It began 22 years ago in Birmingham U.K when owner Mark Rabone, going against the working class norm, decided to embark on a Hairdressing career at a local salon 2 months shy of his 16th birthday. After moving to a high end salon in the city centre and completing his apprenticeship, Mark decided to move into the male only world of Barbering. “I always had a passion for short hair, you can’t hide any mistakes with a nice blow dry - your cutting must be perfect”

9 years later after stints in London and Europe, Mark met his future wife, an Australian girl named Joyce. After a couple of years going back and forth the decision was made to move to Australia on a permanent basis and after 5 years in Melbourne they decided to return to Brisbane, Joyce’s home town.

Fast forward a few years and after stints in London, Europe and Melbourne ,ESQ Male Grooming was born  in 2004, noticing there was a lack of middle ground between the unisex salons and the local Barbers Mark was  able to call on his experience in both worlds. “Rather than a production line feel, we deliver a quality range of hair services backed up with a large selection of top line products, a complimentary refreshment bar, sport on the flat screen T.V’s, eclectic soundtracks in a distinctly masculine environment. We’ve basically brought a little bit of London’s male grooming industry to Brisbane for the guys to enjoy” Built around interesting conversation, eclectic sound tracks and inspiring reading material, we  Cater for students to professionals, artists to tradesmen, gentlemen to wise guys!

With a growing team of 5 stylists who are kept up to date with trends from the U.K. by Marks annual trips home and constant training courses outside the salon, as well as his work as an AMERICAN CREW EDUCATOR AND SESSION STYLIST ESQ is THE destination of choice for Men’s haircutting in Brisbane and an online shop that offers expert advice
